Life Update and What I’m Currently….

Watching: I haven’t really watched much television lately. Unfortunately, life has been keeping me pretty busy. I am excited to see the third season of Sweet Magnolias on Netflix. I read it likely won’t be released until spring of 2023.

I’m open to suggestions on what I should be watching!

Reading: Oh, man. Here is where the truth comes out. *nervously giggles* I have been reading a lot, but I have not been reviewing – with an exception of choosing the star rating on Goodreads. I admit, I’ve been failing as a Professional Reader.

With that said, I am currently reading 2 books: one in digital format – at night, so the light doesn’t disturb the husband – and one in physical format.

The digital book is: The Unraveling of Cassidy Holmes by Elissa R. Sloan. So far, I’m enjoying this one. I’m about 15% into it, so the story is still unfolding. I do enjoy the writing style and the cast of characters.

The physical book is: Stealing Home by Sherryl Woods. This is the first book in her Sweet Magnolias Series. As I mentioned above, I am looking forward to the 3rd season of the Netflix adaptation, so I decided to read the books. So far, it’s very similar to the adaptation, which is sort of nice. I do like that I get a bit more backstory by reading the novels. Her writing style is phenomenal! The way she can make a scene come alive on a page is really something. And, her dialogue is absolutely realistic and engaging!

Any suggestions on what I need to be reading?

Listening: Other than an occasional Spotify playlist, I really haven’t been listening to much. On a side note: Why does Spotify think I’m a 60-year-old woman? The lists they create for me always tend to include hits from when my parents were young kids! Anyway, I was listening to a lot of podcasts previously, but I’ve not really found much to grab my attention lately.

If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them! I really like ooky-spooky ones: true crime, ghosts, unexplained mysteries, but I would appreciate any and all recommendations!

Feeling: I have gone through a lot of changes in the past couple of years. Between the pandemic restrictions and life, in general, I’ve not been in the greatest headspace. I feel like I’m sort of coming out of a fog of emotions, which have been brewing since 2019. I moved to a different state, bought a new home, became a hermit, and went through a bout of clinical depression and anxiety, that was brought on by some major extended family events, and the pandemic just added to it all. I wouldn’t say I’m back to “normal” – whatever that means – but I’m getting closer to who I feel I’m meant to be at this time in my life, if that makes any sense.

How are you feeling? Did you experience similar struggles with the pandemic?

Planning: I really don’t have any longterm plans right now. My short-term plan is to get my new house unpacked! We have lived here since late June and I’m still going through boxes. We moved in a bit of a rush, so a lot of things I would’ve ordinarily donated were, instead, packed for me to deal with in a completely new area. *face palm* I also would like to get some decorations up for Halloween. I’m excited to hand out candy to our new neighborhood, and hopefully (finally) meet some of our neighbors.

I also plan on being more consistent with my blogging and engagement. I really enjoy blogging and writing, in general. My hope is that, by doing more of the things I used to love, that I can get out of this funk I’ve been drowning in. I also have another domain, which I intended to be a personal blog, and I’ve never actually gotten it off the ground. I want to work on that a little, and maybe document my journey out of this fog. We will see… I will keep you posted!

Are you planning anything?

Loving: I am loving this fall weather we have been experiencing! This past summer was so hot miserable. I am really ready for the leaves on the trees to turn beautiful fall colors. I’m ready for glasses of wine around a fire pit, for comfort foods and casseroles, for reading books while snuggled under a fluffy blanket…

What are you currently loving? Are you excited for fall?

As always, thank you for taking the time to read my musings.

Truly,

Currently I am…

Watching: I just finished watching Chambers on Netflix. Holy moly! It was so good. I really hope they film a second season of this series.

Reading: I’m reading a lot more lately, which is a nice change. I’ve been in a reading slump for months, so I’m happy to report I’m back to my usual book every 2-3 days. I’m reading The Seventh Train by Jackie Carreira. So far I’m loving it! I hope to have a review up in the next few days. I have also just finished D.J. Palmer’s Saving Meghan and Mona Awad’s Bunny, which I highly recommend you check both out; review for these coming very soon.

Listening: I’m listening to Up and Vanished (season 2). I listened to season 1 and fell in love with the crew. I am a little late to listening to season 2, it’s been up for awhile, but I guess I spaced it. If you have any other true crime podcasts you recommend, please leave me a comment.

I am also listening to The Woman in the Dark by Vanessa Savage on Audible. I’m about halfway through, and it’s getting really good! Have any good Audible recommendations, please leave it in a comment. 🙂

Feeling: I’ve been feeling better. I have to say that for the first part of the year I was in a bad place, emotionally. I decided to take a much-needed break from social media, which helped tremendously. If anyone is having a rough time, I suggest you give it a try. I went about 2 months without logging in to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.

Planning: I’ve decided to go back to University. Wish me luck! I’m going to work on some post-graduate studies in hopes of getting into a doctoral program in the near future. I’m taking a few classes this summer, so I’m trying to plan out my summer because I really want to still have a summer life. There are so many great things about summer, and I don’t want to miss out!

Loving: I’m absolutely loving the warmer weather. I could do without all the rain we’ve had here in the midwest, but otherwise the weather has been beauty-full! All the flowers and trees are budding, and it’s just gorgeous!

Please let me know what you are currently up to! 😉

Truly,
